WWE Superstars deliver smackdown to a sold out crowd
at the frank erwin center
AUSTIN, TX – Wrestling fans filled the Frank Erwin Center for WWE presents Smackdown and ECW, two of the franchises’ popular taped, televised shows. More than 11,000 enthusiastic fans cheered and jeered the WWE Superstars as they took to the ring.
Fans were treated to numerous entertaining matches including a stretcher match between Jeff and Matt Hardy and a World Heavyweight title match between Edge and John Cena. Randy Orton also made an appearance touting the upcoming Six-Man Tag Team match at Backlash. Smackdown airs Fridays and ECW airs Tuesdays.
This is the fifth sell-out at the Frank Erwin Center this year. Other 2009 sell-outs include “The Paisley Party Tour” (1/22/09), The Killers with special guest M83 (2/3/09), Robin Williams “Weapons of Self-Destruction” (2/19/09) and Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band (4/5/09).
Since 1977, the Frank Erwin Center has served Central Texans with some of the best in live entertainment. The multi-purpose facility located on The University of Texas at Austin campus, hosts a variety of events including concerts, theatrical performances, family shows and sporting events. It also serves as the home court for the Texas men’s and women’s basketball teams.
