Robin Williams entertains a Sold Out Crowd
at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center
AUSTIN, TX – Robin Williams proved why he is one of the best comedians around when he hit the stage at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center for his “Weapons of Self-Destruction” Comedy Tour. Known for his sheer energy and animation, the crowd was more than ready for Williams to hit the stage.
The show began with the sold out crowd of more than 6,100 welcoming Williams to the stage with a standing ovation. He opened with locally flavored material including the fire at the Governor’s mansion, the BCS rankings, toll roads and local celebrity “Leslie,” and hooked the crowd for an hour and a half with non-stop laughter.
This is the fourth sell-out at the Frank Erwin Center for this year. Other 2009 sell-outs include “The Paisley Party Tour” (1/22/09), The Killers with special guest M83 (2/3/09), and Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band’s upcoming concert on April 5.
Since 1977, the Frank Erwin Center has served Central Texans with some of the best in live entertainment. The multi-purpose facility located on The University of Texas at Austin campus, hosts a variety of events including concerts, theatrical performances, family shows and sporting events. It also serves as the home court for the Texas men’s and women’s basketball teams.
