AUSTIN, Texas – Last Saturday, the Texas Boxing Commission announced that Fight Night at the Frank Erwin Center this Saturday will be the official kickoff for their 75th Anniversary celebration. The commission will be honoring several members of the boxing community at Saturday’s fight for their accomplishments and contributions to the combative sport of professional boxing. Honored championship boxers will be Ann Wolfe, Anissa Zamarron, Jesus Chavez, and James Kirkland. Also honored will be boxing trainers Richard Lord (producer of Fight Night and owner of Lord’s Boxing Gym) and Donald “Pops” Billingsley for their contributions in and outside the boxing ring, and Senator Gonzalo Barrientos for his support of professional boxing.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will present these individuals with certificates during a special program at Fight Night. This will mark a significant occasion in the history of the boxing commission in Texas as well as the boxing community. For 75 years, the State of Texas has successfully licensed and regulated the boxing industry, increasing the growth and presence of boxing in the sporting community throughout the years.
