BOXING RETURNS TO THE FRANK ERWIN CENTER WITH
DOWNTOWN FIGHT NIGHT SLATED FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3

Tickets go on sale Friday, September 28 at 10 a.m.

The boxing ring will return to the Frank Erwin Center floor on Saturday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. with the Texas welterweight title on the line at Downtown Fight Night.

The main event for the evening will feature Gilbert “Boogie” Vera challenging Ray Lino “Randy” Gatica for the Texas welterweight title, which Gatica took home last June at the Texas Title Fight at the Frank Erwin Center. The bout will be a face off of two very well known boxing families in the Austin area. Vera follows in the footsteps of his Texas Golden Gloves heavyweight champion father, Gilbert Sr., and Gatica’s father went to the Golden Gloves nationals in Lake Placid and owns and operates a local boxing gym.

At the Texas Title Fight, Gilbert “Boogie” Vera needed only 1 minute 55 seconds into the second round to knockout his opponent to claim the Texas super lightweight crown, a crown he will relinquish in order to challenge for the Texas welterweight title. Fighting on the same card, Gatica took out his opponent 2 minutes and 44 seconds into the first round to lay claim to the Texas welterweight title, the title he will be defending on November 3.

Other boxers on the card at this time include former Golden Gloves heavyweight champion Todd “Pop Pop” Subocz and some of Austin’s rising stars such as, Casey “The Wizard” Ramos, Curtis Meeks, Ryan Lawson, Thomas Bloodworth and Adauto Gonzalez plus, Bonnie Joe McGee, Josue Moreno and more.
