AUSTIN, Texas – Larry the Cable Guy, an American stand up comedian and actor who costarred in the Blue Collar Comedy Tour and Blue Collar TV, will bring his hilarious “redneck”-style humor to the Frank Erwin Center on March 31. Don’t miss his uproarious antics, as Larry the Cable Guy comes to Austin to “Git-R-Done! Daniel Lawrence Whitney – better known by his stage name Larry the Cable Guy – began his comedy career on a dare at a local comedy club in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1986. After appearing on amateur nights at comedy clubs, Whitney began doing radio comedy, calling into stations as fictional characters. The Larry character was created after his friend from a station asked him to call in as a cable installer. He has since taken the character with him on the Blue Collar TV and Blue Collar Comedy Tour with Jeff Foxworthy Whitney has also seen considerable success from his comedic recordings. His comedy albums Lord, I Apologize, released in 2001, and The Right To Bare Arms, released in 2005, have both been certified gold by the RIAA. In 2006, he starred in the film Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector and was the voice of Mater the tow truck in Disney/Pixar’s <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixar> animated film Cars Larry’s comedic trademarks are “redneck”-style humor delivered while speaking in a thick Southern dialect. He uses catchphrase humor - such as the phrase “Git-R-Done!” – and often recounts bizarre stories about his “family.” This “proud-to-be-a-redneck, tell-it-like-it-is” comedy has earned him a broad fan base throughout the country. In 2004, “Larry” had the highest grossing comedy tour, topping Chris Rock’s.
