THE “WORLD FAMOUS” LIPIZZANER STALLIONS PERFORM EQUINE ART AT THE ERWIN CENTER

AUSTIN, TEXAS -  The Lipizzaner Stallions are the aristocrats of horses.  These rare, agile, intelligent horses have a long and documented history from their original breeding as horses of war to horses of nobility.  With six significant bloodlines in today’s Lipizzaner breed, their ancestors bore Ghengis Khan out of the wastelands of Asia to conquer much of the (then known) world; Bedouins rode them as they patrolled the treasure-laden caravans in the Sahara; they were rescued during World War II by orders given by General George S. Patton and are internationally recognized today as performers of equestrian art.  These magnificent horses will be performing at the Frank Erwin Center Saturday, April 16. 

Their performance at the Frank Erwin Center will include classical equestrian art steps and movements and a thrilling segment called the “Airs Above the Ground.”  It will include leaps and maneuvers once used by riders in saddle to protect and defend themselves on the battlefield, now preserved as an equestrian work of art.
