Rock Band Live Tour

Backstage Pass

You’ve played their smash hits on the video game phenomenon Rock Band®, heard their songs all over the radio, and surely a lucky few of you have seen them play in concert. Read on to get the skinny on these hot rock bands that will play at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on November 13!

First up is Panic at the Disco. This four man group has been called everything from emo (which they really don’t prefer) to rock to pop. The group formed in Las Vegas where two of the band members and childhood friends, Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith, grew up. From there, the boys melded into one and started something that no one had ever seen before. Their show has been described as a circus a la the Victorian era. It is just as much about putting on a show as it is about the music for these boys. Recently, they have toned down their shows a bit, especially on their recent Honda Civic Tour, but the fans still love it and keep coming back for more.

On a more subdued note, there is Dashboard Confessional, an alternative rock-indie group from Boca Raton, Florida. Dashboard’s lead singer Chris Carrabba, a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer, loves to entertain his fans with just the music and his voice. Many times during his concerts he encourages fans to sing along by standing back from the microphone and playing his guitar with the rest of the band. The vibe that you get from going to a Dashboard concert is very chill and relaxing. It will be great to see the two bands together since not only is their music starkly different, but so is their performance style.

Joining Panic at the Disco and Dashboard Confessional on tour will be the alternative band from Chicago, Plain White T’s, and the new rock band from Las Vegas, The Cab. The Plain White T’s exploded onto the mainstream music scene in 2006 with their smash No. 1 hit “Hey There Delilah.” The song remained at the top of the Billboard charts for 3 weeks and still remains on the chart today. Like the title of their most recent album, this band is making Every Second Count and thoroughly enjoying the ride. “Things are moving faster than expected and we are proceeding with caution,” said lead singer Tom Higgenson. “But we’re not going to change. Whether we’re playing a small club or an arena, we’re gonna sweat the same. And if it gets really big, maybe can we can finally have a light show!”

The Cab, a fairly new band to the rock scene, are going on tour to promote their debut album Whisper War. The band members, Alex DeLeon, Cash, Alex Johnson, Alex Marshall, and Ian, are excited about promoting the album and touring with their close friends Panic at the Disco. Panic at the Disco actually helped The Cab get their start in the business when band member Spencer Smith of Panic at the Disco took a demo of the band’s work and helped to get them signed. After this, the boys were on the fast track…

Now that you’ve learned more about each of the bands, get your band together and start practicing so you can have the same chance to play on stage.
