Gaither Homecoming "Lovin Life" Tour

A Man of Many Trades

line

He is a singer, songwriter, performer, entrepreneur, father, husband, mentor, inspiration, and former teacher. He is Bill Gaither and it seems like he can do it all, with a little help of course. Bill Gaither has been working in the music industry for quite some time now. He started his first group, the Bill Gaither Trio, in 1956 while studying to be a teacher at Anderson College. He spent almost ten years trying to balance being a musician and an educator. But in 1967 he quit teaching to perform music and hasn’t stopped since.

As if being a prominent artist in the world of Gospel music wasn’t enough for Bill Gaither, he decided to test his luck as an entrepreneur. He founded the Gaither Music Company, which performs the functions of a record company, concert booking, television production, copyright management, retail store, recording studio and telemarketing for the Gaither Empire. Gaither also runs a retail center called Gaither Family Resources. Bill Gaither can also add mentor and father-figure to his impressive resume. Mark Lowry, Sandi Patty, Carman, Steve Green, Don Francisco, Amy Grant, Michael English, Jonathan Pierce, Karla Worley, and Cynthia Clawson are all gospel artists who either got their start or became popular while touring with the Gaithers.

His “Homecoming” tours, which started in 1991, brought together giants of the southern gospel and Christian music industry, sparking a revival of the genres. The “Homecoming” tours have sold more than 1.1 million tickets across the world, and have included such notable venues as the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. The very first Gaither Homecoming was unplanned and mostly improvised. In 1991, the Gaither Vocal Band had just wrapped up a recording session in a Nashville, Tennessee studio, working on an album which featured many of the great voices of Southern Gospel music. After the recording session, the artists spent some time telling stories and singing their favorite tunes. Gaither recorded this improvised session and decided to publish it. After that Gaither began publishing a series of videos with big groups of gospel musicians.

With the success of his career and impact on the gospel music scene, Bill Gaither truly is “Lovin’ Life.” So join the Gaither Vocal Band and various other artists and musicians on October 17 for what will surely be an uplifting experience.
