Harlem Globetrotters

Have a Hoopin’ Good Time

harlem Globetrotters

Everyone’s favorite basketball team is making its way to the Frank Erwin Center to bring the audience a hoopin’ good time! If you have ever caught one of the Harlem Globetrotters’ games, you probably know why this is an event that just can’t be missed. The players are pros at combining talent and humor to put on a spectacular show!

The Harlem Globetrotters have been thrilling audiences for 82 years. They were formed by Abe Saperstein in 1926 and are still considered to be one of the most impressive teams around. With comedy and pure athleticism, the Globetrotters amaze and entertain the audience while creating an atmosphere of true athletic sports. Even though these games are labeled as exhibition games, this doesn’t mean they lack ability. The team plays basketball on a professional level, displaying a large amount of talent and skill, to give the audience an exciting experience. The humor that the Globetrotters bring to the court is truly one of a kind. With tricks like crazy dunks, fancy dribbling, and super spinning skills, the team is definitely a spectacle to see.

In the past, many NBA greats and highly skilled athletes have played for the Harlem Globetrotters. Among them is Reece “Goose” Tatum, considered to be the original “Clown Prince” of the Globetrotters. “Goose” is credited to have invented the original hook shot and has been called one of the best showmen in team history. Another star player who wore one of the original Trotter jerseys was Wilt “The Stilt” Chamberlain. This player, who stood a tall 7 foot 1 inch, is credited as being one of the greatest and most dominant players in the history of the NBA. He brought his skills with him to the Globetrotters in 1958. Both of these amazing players left their mark in team history when their jerseys were retired into the Legends Ring.

Currently, the Globetrotters are succeeding, not only at playing impressive games, but also at contributing around the world. As “Ambassadors of Goodwill,” the Globetrotters travel the world to spread joy and laughter at numerous schools and hospitals. Their charitable actions prove that their hearts are as outstanding as their record 12 foot dunks!

Come see these guys hit the hardwood, and experience some intense action and endless laughs! Bring along your family and friends, and watch the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters and their amazing tricks, high-flying skills and crazy antics on February 7 at the Frank Erwin Center!
