Luis Miguel

“El Sol de Mexico” Will Shine at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center

around

Smooth crooner and Latin heartthrob Luis Miguel, known to many as “El Sol de Mexico,” will light up the stage at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on October 15. Miguel is hitting the road to promote his 2008 release, Complices, and his upcoming tour will visit the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Central America, Spain, Peru, Italy, Brazil, and Canada. Complices is quickly becoming yet another highly successful album for the pop singer. Over his career, Luis Miguel has sold over 90 million albums worldwide and has produced sixteen No.1 singles. His success in the Spanish market has earned him nine Grammys and a star on the Hollywood walk of Fame.

Luis Miguel’s continuing success over the past three decades has been built upon a foundation of hard work, dedication to his craft, and an irresistible charm that he brings to all of his performances. Miguel had a natural talent for singing as a young child, and at the age of 12, he released his first album, 1+1= 2 Enamorados. This album was the beginning of one of the most successful careers in Latin American music history.

Miguel’s boyish charm showcased in his early career shifted into a mature sensuality when the singer released his third album, 20 Años. Released in 1990, this album sold over 600,000 copies in its first week of release and clearly established Miguel as a heavyweight in the Spanish music arena. Miguel challenged his pop singing status the following year when he released his fourth album, Romance, that featured romantic ballads in the bolero style. Miguel’s risk paid off when his album reached multi-platinum status and became the first Spanish album by a male to sell over a million copies in the United States. Miguel followed Romance with two more albums in the same bolero style which have reached an unheard of level of international success in the Spanish music genre.

Luis Miguel’s grace as a singer provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for audiences to experience the talent of Latin America’s most popular artist. Please join us on October 15 for a night with Luis Miguel that will stay with you for years to come.
