Dixie Chicks

October 1

Long Time Gone (But At Least They Are Back!)

Dixie Chicks

Fiery, sultry, rambunctious, inspiring—these are all words that can be used to describe the Dixie Chicks. These three women have taken the road to fame and turned it into their own express highway. On tour with their latest album Taking the Long Way, the Chicks are set to appear in Austin October 1 at 7:30PM.

The group originally started in 1989 with the two sisters (Martie and Emily Erwin) and two other band members. The four women worked hard and made a name for themselves but they hadn’t quite hit the big time. In 1995 Natalie Maines replaced the previous lead singer and history was made. With Maines’ distinctive voice and the three women co-writing almost all of their songs, the Chicks' star began to shine even brighter than ever before.

The smash hit albums Wide Open Spaces in 1999 and Fly in 2000 garnered the Chicks 12 hits and over 22 million albums sold combined! After these two albums thrust them into the hearts of music lovers worldwide, the Chicks released a less conventional album, Home, that was still wildly successful.

Though 2003 brought some rough political patches for the Dixie Chicks, they seem to be bouncing back in true Chick form—fiery and willful but always from the heart.
