February - Short on Days, But Long on
Events
It’s
going to be a busy month, starting with the Harlem Globetrotters
on February 9. If you’re an adult reading this, you may
remember seeing the Harlem Globetrotters when you were young
(well, young-er!), but can you believe they’ve been around
now for 80 years? Tickets are available now.
Not even 24 hours after the Globetrotters get in their warm
up suits and get on their bus, the fighters from Renegades
Extreme Fighting will be donning their robes and getting ready
to rumble. These multi-faceted fighters will use a combination
of martial arts, kickboxing, boxing and wrestling moves to
best their opponents on February 10. Boxing, wrestling and
martial arts fans – you can get your tickets now.
Sesame Street Live brings a cast of colorful characters to
The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center February 16 through February
19. “Super Grover! Ready for Action” teaches children
about healthy habits with the help of a furry, blue and extremely
cute alter ego of Grover’s – Super Grover. Get
online, find the nearest telephone booth or zoom to a Texas
Box Office outlet to get your tickets!
If you love the sound of bagpipes and drums, if you’re
from the Great isle across the pond, if you enjoy pomp and
pageantry, or if you just appreciate a culture that would invent
something as delicious as shortbread, then you don’t
want to miss The Black Watch and The Band of the Welsh Guards
when they make their way into the arena February 24.
Trent Reznor is the one-man band known as Nine Inch Nails,
the driving force behind what made industrial music accessible
to pop fans. In the late 80’s, his album Pretty Hate
Machine insinuated itself into the mainstream and rose to recognition
from its original underground fan base to MTV, radio stations
and arenas. This rise to popularity is due partly to the fact
that Reznor knows how to write pop songs and disguise them
with the use of electronics, driving beats and distorted guitars.
Nine Inch Nails will be performing at the Frank Erwin Center
Friday, March 24. Tickets are on sale now. You definitely don’t
want to miss your chance to see the man who can make darkness
and despair sound so appealing.
The month of March couldn’t bring more diverse music
performances. On Sunday, March 26 The Hero Tour featuring Kirk
Franklin and special guest Mary Mary will bring gospel music
to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center. Tickets for this
show will go on sale Friday, February 3 at 10AM. Both acts
are Grammy Award and Dove Award winners, making this a top
notch bill.
On the other end of the musical spectrum, country music fans
have reason to holler – Kenny Chesney is making a stop
off at the Frank Erwin Center Friday, March 31 on his new tour
The Road and The Radio. Tickets go on sale Saturday, February
11 and if you want to see him I suggest you don’t hesitate
to secure your seat early. Chesney has a lot of fans and his
show was one of the top grossing tours last year.
There you have it – we planned a month full of quality
entertainment events and we even have some plans for March
laid out. All you have to do is show up!
