ENNIO (September 6-11) B. Iden Payne Theatre
Brilliantly funny and wildly entertaining, Austin has never seen anything like it! This solo performance features a whirlwind of paper costumes and split second transformations you have to see to believe. Using his dynamic physical comedy, ingenious costumes and backed by an eclectic soundtrack, ENNIO magically morphs into parodies of our favorite cultural icons. Miró Quartet (Thursday, September 8 at 8:00 PM)

Currently holder of the eminent Cleveland Quartet Award, the Miró Quartet has dazzled listeners around the world with their bright, exciting performances. At once exuberantly youthful and technically mature, the quartet embodies the art of surrealism. The Miró celebrates its 10th anniversary with a new CD release paying tribute to Beethoven’s Opus 18 and a highly anticipated performance at the UT Performing Arts Center in Bates Recital Hall, Thursday, September 8 at 8:00 PM. Jimmy Scott & the Jazz Expressions (Friday, September 30 at 8:00 PM)

Jazz great Jimmy Scott makes only one stop in Texas this year — at the UT Performing Arts Center. Jimmy Scott is a legendary balladeer with a hauntingly high voice that breaks women’s hearts and makes men cry. He is a singer’s singer. When asked by reporters what singers she admired most, Billie Holiday mentioned only one name — Jimmy Scott! Ray Charles said Scott “defined soul.” Don’t miss the legend “live” in concert at UT PAC’s Hogg Auditorium Friday, September 30 at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $26-38.
Philip Glass’ ORION (Friday, October 14 at 8:00 PM) Bass Concert Hall
It takes genius to bring the world’s music together in a single piece of work. ORION by Philip Glass first debuted at the Athens Cultural Olympiad in 2004. This year it is touring in only three US cities including Austin. ORION takes you on a breathtaking journey from Australia, China, and Brazil to Nova Scotia and India to West Africa and Greece with global masters Foday Musa Suso, Wu Man, Mark Atkins, Guarav Mazumdar, Ashley MacIsaac, Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Philip Glass. The evening-length masterpiece arrives in Austin at UT PAC’s Bass Concert Hall October 14 at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $30-$60
