Austin’s Katrina Relief Concert
a Success! Concert
goers were treated to one great performance after another
Wednesday, September 21 as Texas music and hurricane relief
took center stage at the Frank Erwin Center. The Neville
Brothers added some New Orleans flavor to the mix. The concert
began at 6:30PM and continued strong into the night wrapping
up after midnight.
From beginning to end, each artist was greeted with warm
and enthusiastic applause from the audience. The line-up
included Eric Johnson, Bob Schneider, Patty
Griffin, The Flatlanders, Jimmie Vaughan, Ray Price, the Neville Brothers,
and Willie Nelson. There were even a few surprises, like 7-time Tour de France
champion Lance Armstrong coming up on stage to introduce Willie Nelson and
his band.
The University of Texas, the Frank Erwin Center, Clifford
Antone, Freddy Fletcher, Direct Events, and representatives
from Austin Mayor Will Wynn’s office
worked together to put on the benefit concert.
