Thanks again to the many people who came
out to Neighbors in Need - Austin’s Katrina Relief Concert
on September 21, 2005. It was a huge success! The University
of Texas, the Frank Erwin Center, Austin Mayor Will Wynn, Clifford
Antone of Antone’s Nightclub, Freddy Fletcher with Pedernales
Records, Robin Shivers with RRS Management, and Direct Events
worked together to put on this benefit concert.
Approximately 6,000 people enjoyed the incredible music which included performances by Willie Nelson, the Neville Brothers, Ray Price, Jimmie Vaughan, The Flatlanders, Patty Griffin, Bob Schneider and Eric Johnson. $223,170 raised from ticket sales was given to the Red Cross and its Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Sodexho Sports & Leisure Services, the in-house concessionaire of the Frank Erwin Center, contributed another $5,980 from t-shirt and poster sales.
Commemorative t-shirts and posters from the concert are still available for purchase. All proceeds from t-shirt and poster sales will again go to the Red Cross Katrina Relief effort. To order a commemorative t-shirt or poster, come by in person to the Frank Erwin Center box office between the hours of 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., call 512-477-6060 or 1-800-982-2386, or go to TexasBoxOffice.com. |
