Austin Float Trips

Rollin’... Rollin’... Rollin’ on a River

Iced tea, fans, sno cones and floating lazily down a river in an inner tube are Texas traditions in finding respite from the summer heat. All these options are good ways to beat the heat, but floating down the river is the most fun you’ll have cooling off. Austin Float Trips will take care of all the logistics – parking, getting you to and from the river, providing the inner tubes and even a post-float meal – all you need to do is get a group of friends together and set aside a few hours to take in the cool water and sights of popular Central Texas Rivers like the San Marcos or Guadalupe River.

The San Marcos River, largely spring-fed by San Marcos Springs, is a unique experience through the City of San Marcos. When else are you going to be able to float peacefully through a city? The water’s clear, has a fairly constant flow rate and is approximately 70 degrees, which makes for an invigorating dip. The trip begins just below the dam for Spring Lake then passes through the Texas State University Campus. The river slows down to a leisurely pace as you pass through San Marcos’ municipal park, but don’t fall asleep or you’ll be in for a big surprise at the end of your trip. You reach a moderate sized dam with a ‘tube chute’, an exciting finish to your float trip.

The Guadalupe River is another very popular trip. The section of the river used for floating is discharged by Canyon Dam and is clear and brisk. The water warms as it travels downstream and the flow rate is fairly constant throughout the floating season.

Austin Float Trips offers trips several times a week during the summer months. After you buy your tickets and make your reservation, the only thing you’ll need to do the day of your float is to gather your supplies (towels, sunscreen, change of clothes, water shoes) and park at Dobie Garage in Austin 30 minutes before your departure time. Austin Float Trips provides the transportation to and from the rivers, your inner tube and even post-float drinks and snacks. You can conveniently buy your Austin Float Trips ticket online at TexasBoxOffice.com. If you have any questions about the trips concerning rain checks, cooler, floatation devices, or private parties, call Austin Float Trips at (512)96-FLOAT. austinfloattrips.com
