McLachlan Keeping Busy During Her Time
Off
The
earthy sound of Canadian folk singer-songwriter Sarah
McLachlan will fill the Frank Erwin Center July 23. McLachlan has been shining
on the Canadian folk scene since she was twenty years old. After
taking a couple of years off, McLachlan is promoting her newly
released album Afterglow. During her downtime she focused on her
family life and her philanthropy, the Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach,
which offers free music education classes to inner city youths
whose school music programs have been cut due to lack of funds.
Before her hiatus McLachlan was setting the pace in the music
scene. McLachlan is the founder of Lilith Fair, an all-women
tour started in 1997. More than two million fans came out
to support
Lilith Fair and raised over $7 million to donate to charities
such as the Breast Cancer Fund and LIFEbeat.
