Band-O-Rama Back In
The Drum
What’s a football-filled Saturday without the world-famous
Longhorn Band? The fringe swinging in the air, the twirling
of Big Bertha, the ringing sounds of “Texas Fight!” Even
without the pigskin, The University of Texas Longhorn Band is
a stand-alone attraction.
This year’s Band-O-Rama is back at the Erwin Center and
The “Showband of the Southwest” is pleased to bring
the gift of traditional, Longhorn classics to the Austin community
free of charge.
The program will feature the university’s Drumline, Colorguard,
the Texas Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble, and the Longhorn Concert
Band and Jazz Ensemble. The Band-O-Rama performance will end
with a mass-band finale featuring all the of the university’s
traditional favorites.
The concert and jazz bands will perform standard concert works
while the Longhorn Band will perform traditional favorites and
preview two selections from this fall's halftime show lineup.
Conductors include Robert M. Carnochan, director of the Longhorn
Band; Scott S. Hanna, associate director of the Longhorn Band;
John M. Watkins Jr., assistant director of the Longhorn Band;
and guest conductors G. Scott Bersaglia, Benjamin Finley, Kyle
Prescott, Mary Schneider and John VanderGheynst.
Tickets for the 2004 Band-O-Rama at the Frank Erwin Center,
Saturday, May 1 at 7PM are free. Tickets are available at the
Frank Erwin Center and the Performing Arts Center box offices.
