Erwin Center Fills the TV Void

Well, it’s finally over. One of my top five favorite television shows has gone to the land of syndication. Sure, I own every season of ‘Sex and the City’ on DVD, but it’ll never be the same. My portal to the land of Manolos, Fendi and Cosmos is officially sealed.

And never mind two other comedies turning in their keys this season. So long, Frasier. Sayonara, Friends. Tis the season for mourning my shows...or my “stories” as my grandmother would say. But if there ever was a month to pick up and move on, April is it. Come drown your sorrows in tennis and music at the Erwin Center.

And in an official proclamation by Austin mayor Will Wynn, the Gibson-Baldwin Grand Slam Jam countdown has begun! Don’t miss tennis legends Jim Courier, John McEnroe, Corina Morariu and Martina Navratilova in this year’s tennis-music gala on April 30.

If you have yet to see Alabama in concert, don’t run out of time! The band is on its “American Farewell Tour” and is making only one Texas stop in Austin. These country legends kick off the Erwin Center’s summer line-up and fans can bid them farewell on June 25.

And not since 1999’s Lillith Fair has Sarah McLachlan starred in her own tour. With her recently released “Afterglow” album selling over 1.7 million copies, McLachlan is hitting the road with a 43-date tour. Catch her in Austin on July 23.

Recently added to the Erwin Center's summer lineup are George Lopez and A Perfect Circle. If it's comedy and alternative rock you seek, than look no further. A Perfect Circle will be rocking The Theatre in May and Lopez will follow with his "Why You Crying?" Tour in June. Check out the features for more details.
