Tennis Excellence in Austin
Year in and year out, The University of Texas men and women’s
tennis teams rank among the nation’s elite. The 2004 spring
season is no different.
Through March 23, the women’s team is off to a 12-2 start and is currently
ranked No. 11 in the nation. Head coach Jeff Moore has relied on Croatian natives,
freshman Petra Dizdar and sophomore Mia Marovic to spark the Texas attack. Dizdar
had an impressive debut this fall and currently is ranked No. 11 in the nation,
while Marovic has posted an impressive 11-1 record in doubles matches.
On the men’s side, sophomore Antonio Ruiz has a team-best 20 victories
while manning the No. 1 spot in the lineup for head coach Michael Center. With
Ruiz leading the way, the Longhorns own a 10-6 record and are ranked No. 17.
University of Texas men and women’s tennis teams both play their home matches
at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center, which is located on the corner of MLK and
